Post coffee.

I'll start.

My drink:
I've been drinking "dirty horchata" which is topped with a shot of cold brew concentrate. Dunkin Donuts beans. Recipe here: https://archive.li/4D4lA

My gear:
Chemex six-cup coffeemaker with bleached square filters
Baratza Encore conical burr grinder
iSi Gourmet 0.5 L cream whipper
AeroLatte milk frother

Coffee a shit. Drink tea. Quality loose leaf tea is a fraction of the price of equivalent quality coffee, lasts longer and won't make you a caffeine addict yes yes, tea still has caffeine, but the overall stimulant effect is more minor and drawn out.

I see coffee autism as necessary sperging because most coffee disgusts me: everyone I know seems to keep their coffeemakers or carafes filthy, and my first cup from a brand new Chemex was so unlike everything else I had before it that I want to know how good it can get.

On the other hand, even low tier tea is usually drinkable. I've been cold-brewing iced teas with loose leaves for the past two years. Right now I have cold-brewed high mountain oolong in the fridge.

If you'd like to try it, you can brew it yourself in any sparkling-clean carafe, even if you can only get Folgers or another ground supermarket coffee. Everything I've brewed in the completely clean Chemex has been good; when it's not, it's because I fucked it up via temperature, residue, grind size, and so on.

Espresso coffee culture is everywhere in my country and many people in my area are competent baristas, including myself; so I find it difficult to discuss coffee online with those that are only acquainted with manual coffee. Flat white best.
I grind my coffee beans finely with a mill, put it in a cup and fill with boiling water. It's simple and doesn't require a lot of utensils.

Depending on what parts are kept "filthy" and what sort of coffee maker you mean, it's probably because people believe that the buildup improves the flavor, whereas the soap ruins it. That being said, I have no clue either way.

Someone on 4/ck/ had suggested that I grind cardamom with my coffee. So I did. This is my first spiced coffee.

I ground two green cardamom pods in a blade grinder as I ground 25 g of Chock Full O'Nuts' medium roast in a burr grinder, then brewed it in a Chemex. It's not bad. You taste the cardamom first and the coffee second.

I seriously doubt that anyone wants to taste the soluble decomposition products of the rotting insoluble residue unless, and only unless, it were carried out in a controlled, repeatable way that's understood to taste great. From my understanding that coffee residue tastes metallic, as expected from rancid oils, and I don't want to taste that. Throw the fucker in a dishwasher and hand dry it if you must.

Correction: you taste the cardamom first and the coffee second when you sweeten it. Drinking it black, I only smell the cardamom.

What do you guys think about barrel aged coffee? The local coffee shop where I live had some bourbon barrel-aged coffee for a while, and I enjoyed drinking it iced as a cold brew.

Is there anywhere I can get a good barrel-aged coffee online? Is the barrel-aged coffee going to end up just being a meme? I really like it, especially because I don't drink alcohol normally.
UK anon here looking for reasonably priced coffee recommendations. GF really likes coffee but I can't stand the stuff. What's a good coffee to drink black? Preferably something already ground.

Depends on the specifics. Based on what you're saying, I'd recommend you buy her a grinder instead of a bag of coffee.

Find out what equipment she has, and if she's missing a grinder then get her a grinder (Hario's Skerton is a decent hand grinder and costs the same as a bag of coffee).

If she has that stuff, then ask again after saying what coffee gear she has.

Not exactly related to drinking coffee, but does anyone here have any tips to creating latte art? I can make a coffee just fine and texture the milk, I just never really grasped the process of making latte art.

It's Lavazza or Illy 100% ara for me, machinetto always delivers best quality/price without having to spend fortunes on a huge machine.

Fresh beans are good too, but cost more here.

I prefer just black. Any Arabica beans with nutty or cocoa hints but never of any "earthy" flavor as my daily driver, single origin if quite possible. The water must be drawn from underwater streams beneath the earth through pumps or over natural mountain springs (mind you some mountains have mining-related chemicals thrown over them so it means the water might be dangerous). It has minerals and is a hard water, to be softened later through a few minutes of boiling, water quality does so much and using fluoridated/chlorinated/endocrine disruptor crap that had been softened by sewer or "sewer water" treatment facilities taste like shits sour/acidic bitter. Mineral or go home my friend. Thick soup mug retains heat longer, preheat the mug with boiling Mineral Water. For the grinds, you must put them on un-oxybleached paper filter that had been "desaturated of paper taste" beforehand "by pouring hot Mineral Water over it while atop a metal mesh", dip the mesh to a surface of hot Mineral Water to avoid unnecessary degassing "which puts bubbles between the grinds causing them to float when pouring over". Again, Mineral Water or go home. This is the perfect formula, If I were to drink outside, I'd prefer an espresso to avoid excess "normie" water or maybe not at all, just order the cake and bring my own coffee thermos. Mineral Water or kys.

I find odd the article mentions it as a universal recipe that just seems to be served with drink in that specific chicano restaurant.
