On August 29th, porn production company Bang Bros purchased the infamous and damaging website Porn WikiLeaks. Porn WikiLeaks had been doxxing adult performers and their families since 2011 with information originally obtained from an adult industry medical clinic.
It is unclear who actually owned Porn WikiLeaks before the Bang Bros purchase. More than one source, including The Daily Beast, had implied that some believe that disgruntled former porn star and convicted felon Donny Long ran the site. Other sources, including Ars Technica, have implied that a more recent owner was Michael Pratt, founder and owner of GirlsDoPorn.com.
Pratt is currently being sued by 22 female plaintiffs in 3 lawsuits for damages related to their experiences as porn actresses with GirlsDoPorn.com. “The Plaintiffs collectively allege that the Defendants perpetrated intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, false promises, negligent misrepresentation, misappropriation of name and likeness, negligence, breach of contract, promissory estoppel, and unlawful and fraudulent business practices.
Plaintiffs also allege fraudulent transfer as Defendants are believed to have transferred the videos and their funds overseas to hide assets.” They are claiming damages in excess of $22 million. Much of the damage comes from their personal information being added to Porn WikiLeaks in July of 2015. According to the Plaintiffs, later that same year administrative control of Porn WikiLeaks was transferred to Pratt’s email address.
Pratt has filed for bankruptcy. “According to Pratt’s bankruptcy filing, he makes $38,800 a month, with $25,000 left over after expenses. He is reporting $443,000 in debt, including $134,000 in taxes. The litigation is also listed as a debt, without a dollar amount.” Pratt’s obviously in a financial hole and if he was the owner of Porn WikiLeaks, it was in his best fiscal interest to sell.
Lawyers know what they’re doing, usually. Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP will likely subpoena Bang Bros (if they haven’t already) to find out who they paid and who they obtained the now-burned hard drives from. But it doesn’t stop there. Bang Bros are not the heroes this PR stunt of theirs makes them out to be.
Bang Bros is a network of “amateur” mainstream porn sites. Don’t let this seemingly good deed win over your favor, though. Bang Bros is known to have hired a 15-year-old girl (that’s rape and child pornography) in the past, among other things. (It should be noted that the allegations against John Snavely mentioned in the previous link were dropped in 2017; I think most folks are unaware of this.)
