Anons,

As that one anon that's been working on the Infinity Cup for all this time, I feel like the boards that were set to participate deserve a bit better than radio silence. For those that aren't caught up or need a quick rundown:
>The Infinity Cup is a virtual soccer(football[divegrass]) tournament, with its roots dating back to the earliest days of 8chan
>It takes place in Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), a virtual soccer franchise from Konami
>I took on the responsibility of organizing the 5th iteration of the Cup back at the beginning of this year
>Over months, I learned how to mod PES to put in each board's respective team and run simulated games between them
>Using pre-existing guides (many not in English) I also learned how to mod the game from an aesthetic and quality of life standpoint, including crowds, referees, stadiums, balls, and even rudimentary player models
>24 boards agreed to participate, and the Cup was scheduled to begin August 9th
>On August 4th/5th, we received word that 8chan was losing its host, the site went down relatively shortly after
>With no site and no functioning central hub, the Cup was postponed.
>I disappear for about a month
>I return in October
>We still don't have a site, but we do have a webring.
>You are here.
The whole point of this is to see if anyone still cares at this point. There was hype for the Cup. Yes, some boards cared much more than others but there 24 willing boards and we had the resources to run the Cup. I put in probably far more work on my own than any sane person should have, so I don't want this all to go to waste. That being said though, if we set a date, gather the required parties, and begin streaming the Cup and 6 people show up, I'd rather just not do it at all. I'm going around posting this on every participant board that's here on the webring and I'll try to get this up on 8kun somehow. In the meantime just post in here so I can get a sense of interest from you.

Teams who finish third in their respective group will not be eliminated immediately, rather they'll be placed into a supergroup, and the best 4 from that group will be brought in to round out the Round of 16. For the rules on this, please consult the wiki: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/2019_Summer_Infinity_Cup#Knockout_Round

See you tomorrow, 12 Central, 1 Eastern for the final day of the Group Stage.

>>1113

We'll be going over permutations of each match before kickoff, so if you're trying to make sense of shit, I'll try and illuminate things. A reminder than some third place team will advance in order have a 16 team Knockout Round bracket, and those teams will be determined according to UEFA guidelines. Look forward to seeing you anons there for the Infinity Cup. https://cytu.be/r/8cup

15 minutes to the day's start
NNAMO RAGAZZI

Which team will you root for? Kickoff is Friday, 12 CST, 1 EST on https://cytu.be/r/8cup

The 2019 Summer (yeah, right) Infinity Cup is over. /kind/ have emerged victorious over /co/ following a 1-1 match won in penalties by a score of 4-3. The Golden Boot winner is St. Peter of /christian/ with a whopping 10 goals over the course of the tournament. Full tournament results can be found on the wiki http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/2019_Summer_Infinity_Cup and full statistics as well as match summaries and update team pages will be produced on the wiki in the coming days. Thank you to all the anons who tuned in at one point or another and I look forward to hosting all of you, hopefully with a more stable home base, for the next Cup, coming some time in 2020.

I'm looking for Mister Zeppola. With this "Rebirth of Julay" I need to see if we can keep /icup/'s board here, or we'll have to create yet another homeboard on the Webring. And don't worry. I'm still working. I don't have much to show for it, but I'm working. >>>/icup/24 >>>/icup/33 >>>/icup/41
>>5322 >Ho detto questo mentre dormite tutti. I'm a retard, I'm aware.
>>5322 Just saw your post. I created both the Julay and anon.cafe /icup/ boards, and I'm waiting for Julay to explain to us which boards are going to remain and which are going to be deleted. If Julay tells us we're good, we keep the one here, if they tell us to move on, we go to anon.cafe. Regardless, I don't want two of the same boards on the webring, so I'll be deleting the one that turns out to be useless to free up some resources. If you want me to, I can just give it to you when things stabilize a bit.
>>5328 That's perfect. I saw the claim on .cafe. I was hoping it was you or the Aussie and not some faggot who was gonna use it to stir up shit.

As a heads up, there is one week left to submit your board's entry to the Infinity Cup! For your entry to be considered complete, we still need the updated roster for your board.
>>7828 Thanks buddy there's a few changes I wanted to make, I'll get to them today
Open file (93.75 KB 512x512 ita_logo.png)
Congratulations /ita/, your board is now officially entered into the 6th Infinity Cup, a competition dedicated to crowning the divegrass champion of the webring! The defending champion and host for this Cup is /kind/, who defeated /co/ in the final, via a nailbiting penalty shootout. We will be following a similar tournament structure this Cup, with a Group Stage, guaranteeing your board at least 3 games, and a final Knockout Stage to determine the sole champion. The tentative schedule for the tournament is as follows: >July 31 Second Deadline, for tactics and Player Cards (explained below) >August 1st Draw Stream on the Infinity Cup Cytube, determining which teams your board will face in the Group Stage >August 7th, 8th, 9th First, second, and third Day of competition >August 14th, 15th, 16th Fourth, fifth, sixth day of competition, completion of Group Stage >August 22nd First day of Knockout Stage >August 23rd Final day of Knockout Stage, and the champion is crowned So what's the deal with this second deadline? This is for the strategy your team will run during the games, and it's the alternative to live managing. It's a simple text document that the rigger follows during the game that outlines offensive and defensive tactics, as well as substitutes. As for Player Cards, these are the special abilities your players will carry into the game. >Alright, I think I can handle that Perfect. The page explaining Team Strategies and how to select them is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Team_Strategies And the page for Player Cards that does the same is here: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Player_Cards You can send your strategies and player cards to me (SKF@8chan.co or SKF@cock.li) until July 31st, which gives me ample time to actually put them into the game. If you have any trouble with this as well, reach out. I've tried to make those two pages as accessible as possible, but I know there's still going to be issues for those putting it together. >I want to help but not do that Not a problem. Most teams don't have their roster pages filled out, and it's likely yours is one of them. Head to the wiki and fill in your team's roster page with images and brief profiles on your players. It really helps the commentators with their shitposts in-game. (Exemplar roster pages: http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//ita//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//loomis//Roster http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki//otter//Roster) We're always looking for 3D models of players on teams, so if you happen to know how to use Blender or have access to MMDs or similar 3D models, pass them along and we'll work on getting them into PES. We're also opening up submissions for adboards for this Cup, the field advertisements the scroll through during play. To submit them, simply post in your respective thread on /icup/, the only requirement is that the images be scaleable to 512x64, as that's the dimensions that PES needs for them to work. And as always, there's also room for any OC you guys want to put together for the tournament. t. SKF
