Linux Gaming Thread Anonymous 02/15/2020 (Sat) 03:38:41 No.16199
Whether you're playing native games, or making your way through your backlog on WINE, chatter here about it. No platform warring. ---------------- Ever since the library update, Steam has been running like shit and hogging more memory than it has to. I've been turning it off lately. I only use Lutris to launch my games and manage updates, which already is convenient since it doesn't ask for a log-in. I could use a cracked Steam .dll if anyone has an update-to-date version.
>>16205 I wanted to talk more about playing games than the platform itself.
>>16210 I'm going to give you some time this time to make the very same post on the already open thread. Go on, remake your post, then delete your thread here. I know you can do it OP!
>>16222 Why should I scroll past 200 posts and check for thread updates on a thread that's 80%+ what I don't care about?
>>16223 You know there's a catalog button? https://julay.world/v/catalog.html
>>16224 You realize that I want to talk specifically about games on Linux, and not about Windows users who are unsure about installing a new operating system? Thus, the discussion about NVIDIA, Microsoft, platform adoption, isn't pertinent , at least as I've intended, to the thread. I can't care about arbitrary upcoming games that may or may not even work on Linux / Proton / Wine.
>>16225 Then do that on the already opened Linux thread. You can do it, replicate your post there and self delete this duplicate. I believe in you!
I started this thread knowing the existence of the other thread, and I even posted in it before (the Zero-K screenshot), but it's not the discussion I want. I'm not interested in other anon's distro/driver configuration or helping Windows anons. I don't want to argue with platform adoption and competition, but neither am I going to stop other anons from discussing that (in that thread). What I mainly want is other Linux anons talking about the games they're playing. If you're board moderation, you're way too focused on thread consolidation than letting the topics branch out.
>>16236 Nah my worry is that people like you will make new existing threads none stop until you get the reaction you're seeking that you haven't already on your prior posts in that thread. If you think creating more threads will improve your chances of getting desired responses, well please continue to ignore my advise. In fact, I can answer you precisely why there's barely anyone playing games on a niche operating system and why they don't want to sacrifice playing time for troubleshooting problems without a non working operating systems without the popular games they really want to play. I'm focused on you not making another scene like you have done several times in the logs. Hint: no native contemporary linux aaa game distro
>>16247 Again, I'm not interested in the adoption of GNU+Linux. If it remains niche and if it never gets AAA support, that's fine with me. There's plenty of discussion of that in the other thread, but also a good indication there's a handful of anons who are using that niche operating system. If you don't like me making new threads, then understand that I do this because I don't think merging discussions into broad general threads helps the board. I don't do this to instigate arguments nor find localized validation. It's fine with me when a thread only gets 20-50 posts before falling off the catalog peacefully. /v/ when I enjoyed using it the most had a mix of threads that reached 100s of posts, threads that reached 50 or less, and a handful of fresh topics daily when I check back.
>>16251 Man, you have a serious problem. Here's what I'm offering: -Make your posts in the existing thread. -Delete your thread, -Learn to use the catalog, -And relax. When someone legitimately wants to talk about what you desire, they'll come around eventually. I can even engage you. But that's me over 9billion on this planet of which not even 10% know what a computer is, or what Linux even does. If you want attractive responses, you need attractive audiences. How about we work together to make linux popular again?
>>16254 >Here's what I'm offering: Are you threatening to ban me if I don't?
>>16255 I considered that actually, but I already know you use a VPN, banning doesn't work. I'm threatening a 'non aggression pact. Your calm and collectivity for your desired response. Simple wager, no?
>>16258 >Your calm and collectivity for your desired response. Simple wager, no? >>16251 (Me) >Again, I'm not interested in the adoption of GNU+Linux. If it remains niche and if it never gets AAA support, that's fine with me. >>16254 (You) >How about we work together to make linux popular again? You seem intent on characterising my responses as unhinged meanwhile ignoring what I write in my posts.
>>16263 My request is simple, make your posts in the appropriately existing thread and move on. What's so hard to understand to stop duplicating existing threads?
>>16265 >What's so hard to understand to stop duplicating existing threads? >>16236 >>16251 >>16247 (You) >If you think creating more threads will improve your chances of getting desired responses, well please continue to ignore my advise.
>>16267 Then I'll leave you alone to your threads. Have fun being ignored!
