I had this thread on vch for about two weeks now and have posted about it in the Monster Hunter general here, but now that vch has devolved into shitposting now that it's shutting down I think it's time for it to come here. I'm aware that there's a Monster Hunter general, but I feel that this will de-rail that thread. If there ends up being a similar thread on 8kun about this, just know that it isn't me. In this thread, my hope is that it remains focused on Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd. >Monster Hunter on the PSP? I don't have one of those! If you do start with this and can't read Japanese, though, you will be wanting to check the wiki for and asking for help in this thread to explain certain things. Here's a more compressed explanation: The default settings in the most recent release of PPSSPP should be enough, but just make sure that you have networking enabled, the ad hoc server is myneighborsushicat.com, port offset is zero, and that the virtual MAC address has been randomized, which you can do by clicking on it a few times. PPSSPP should also have a firewall exemption. The more challenging aspect is that you will most likely have to configure your router for the online component to work, but it's still fairly easy to get working The game relies on a peer-to-peer network; the ad hoc server works similarly to a torrent tracker, in that it merely facilitates these connections.You'll have to log into your router, which can be done by putting 192.168.1.1 into your browser. You'll want to either enable DMZ, which I don't know about so don't ask me, or forward UDP port 10000 and TCP ports 20001 to 20004 to whatever internal IP address is assigned to your computer/smartphone.

What is it with Mario spin-offs (Party, Tennis, Golf, Kart, etc.) and ignoring 90% of the Mario series? Wart has never been back for a spin-off; Wario Land characters are forgotten; Wario Ware characters doesn't seem to be considered at all; no Luigi's Mansion portrait ghosts ever; Toadsworth got cucked by Toadette in his brief window of relevance; no Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi characters ever; Donkey Kong characters aside from DK himself get ignored; and the Super Hornio Bros. will never make a video game appearance despite Nintendo owning the rights. They have so many characters to work with, and they still come up with shit like Baby Daisy and Gold Mario. What is wrong with Nintendo?

Does anyone remember this game? I have just pirated it recently and am having a tremendous amount of fun with it, it's surprisingly good and well made with almost everything clicking just right. The art direction, the RPG elements, the bejeweld gameplay, even the story is pretty decent so far. The only thing that really annoys me in this game is the fucking spell resist. I'm playing a wizard who is based off of using haste and constantly getting additional turns by matching more than 3 gems. After doing the quest that gives me the hammer which fucking devastates a whole column when I match more than 3 gems it became fucking amazing to play.

I remember playing it around the same time as Crysis, was fun. I also remember playing some sequel of sorts set in space, that one was garbage though.

Then it has a lot of other fun stuff like using enemy skills, capturing towns, and decent story with some fun characters that doesn't get in the way of gameplay.
Concept is good but they really shouldn't have included the gold and XP gems, those slow down the game and are pretty much a waste. Game should have been faster paced. I beat it twice, first time when I was a teenager as a wizard, second time with the updated expansion with the new classes and quests. Bard is boring but OP once you get setup: I equipped the runic items that give you mana as long as you have enough, and used the skill that doubles all mana you gain, so once you gain enough mana you can spam your spells endlessly, unless something like a mana drain happens. Combine this with repeatedly buffing all your stats and your stacking your song of healing and you're pretty much immortal, unless mana drain and spell resists fuck you over. By the way, the trick for skill point allocating is to find the thresholds. I think it's something like 1 point for 4 on a 3-match, 7 points for 5 on a 3 match, 21 points for 6 on a 3 match, and 50 points for 7 on a 3 match. The diminishing returns and thresholds is why you probably shouldn't focus too heavily on a skill. Another thing that makes bards OP is that morale is one of their primary stats, so you can just dump a huge amount of stat points into HP once you reach your thresholds. Helps a lot with surviving long enough to get your setup going.

Half the time when I'm playing shit I feel like if the either antagonist and/or protagonist weren't such a black and white jingoistic asshole everyone might be able to talk, end up seeing see eye to eye on some shit and not needlessly Highlander-ing it. Something like ME1 which gave you and the early antagonist a meaningful chance to talk to each other pre-showdown that could result in him blowing his own alien brains out when he realises what he's become, it subverts the usual mindless 'You must die! BLAMBLAM!! woo ded'. Also it's by no means a good game but Greedfall made the last boss your ailing fucked-up relative who didn't deserve to get minced, I accepted the 'bad' end of that game as the only one and never bothered to see what happened if you gutted the poor bastard.

Zelda 1, 2: no plot Zelda ALttP: mediocre plot, a bit of world building establishing the idea of a history Zelda LA: Emotional story about letting go and natural cycles. Zelda Ocarina: Generic plot, built upon the cinematographic techniques Zelda games employ, mostly because they could finally do camera stuff. Zelda Majora's mask: Extremely moody game with lots of themes of life, death, societal expectations, the idea of things ending, etc. Zelda Oracle games: generic adventure plot Zelda WW: generic adventure plot with some surprising themes of passing on to the next generation and legacies at the end Zelda Minish cap: generic adventure plot with a bro Zelda twilight princess: Generic adventure plot with a waifu Zelda PH and ST: Generic adventure plot with a bro/waifu Zelda Skyward Sword:Generic adventure plot with a waifu Zelda AlBtW: Generic adventure plot Zelda BotW: Generic adventure plot with lots of visually interesting but ultimately shallow characters. It seemed between 1993 and 2003 that Zelda games were getting into some mature themes, what the hell happened? is there a single man responsible for this who was eventually fired or kicked upstairs or was it just a lucky streak? Is there any reason to keep up hope for the BotW sequel?

What's worth playing this generation that isn't on PC? I've had the PS3 on my "maybe I'll get one years from now when they're dirt cheap" list ever since it came out and finally bought one since they finally are, but I only know of a few games to look forward to. so spoonfeed ps3 games plz If everyone seems to be calling this the last good console generation, surely it has plenty of good games right?
